Wyre Forest District Council is inviting landowners, developers, agents, community groups and other stakeholders to submit land for consideration as part of its Local Plan Review.
From Wednesday 1 October 2025, a 12-week Call for Sites will open, seeking land that could be used for:
Housing
Employment
Leisure
Gypsy and Traveller accommodation
Renewable energy generation
Self and custom build plots
The exercise is required following changes to national planning policy. The Government has revised the way local housing needs are calculated, increasing Wyre Forest’s annual target by 112% — from 276 homes to 584. In addition, the Council must update assessments of employment land, open space, traveller sites and self/custom build provision. The Call for Sites will provide a clear picture of land available to meet these needs.
Councillor Dan Morehead, Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Planning and the Green Agenda, said:“Following national policy changes, we are required to undertake this Call for Sites as part of the Local Plan Review. The rise in our housing target and the need to refresh other assessments mean we must re-examine land supply across the district. While the Council expressed concerns during consultation on the new framework, it is essential that we now identify land to ensure government requirements are met. Whether you own land, represent an organisation, or are aware of a site with potential — we want to hear from you.”
Submissions can be made online from 1 October via the Council’s website. A paper form will be available on request. All sites will be assessed in line with national guidance to ensure transparency and fairness.
Submitting a site does not guarantee allocation or planning permission, but ensures it is considered as part of the Local Plan Review evidence base.
The Call for Sites closes on Wednesday 24 December 2025.
