Planning Inspectorate Introduces New Appeal Service

John Baggott

The Planning Inspectorate (PINS) has unveiled what it claims is a new enhanced and streamlined online Planning Appeal service for all Section 78 and Householder Appeals, which takes immediate effect. The new Appeal service introduces improvements which PINS says includes:

  • A simpler and more user-friendly appeal submission process.

  • The ability to save your appeal and resume later, and upload documents incrementally.

  • A task list outlining the necessary information needed for your appeal.

PINS indicates that they are continuing to development further enhancements which would accommodate other types of Appeals in due course.

At first glance, based upon the instruction video, this new system does appear to us to be a little more user friendly than its predecessor, but the proof of the pudding will be in the eating. Whether it will help speed-up the existing somewhat unsatisfactory overall PINS Appeal experience from submission of Appeal through to receipt Inspector’s decision, remains to be seen. We have our doubts.
