Bromsgrove District Council is currently reviewing its Local Plan, which will shape how housing, employment, and supporting infrastructure are delivered across the district over the next 15 years.

The Draft Development Strategy Consultation—taking place under Regulation 18 of the Town and Country Planning (Local Planning) (England) Regulations 2012—was originally set to close on 30 September. Following strong local interest, the consultation has now been extended until 5pm on 20 October 2025, giving residents and stakeholders additional time to provide feedback.

What the consultation covers

The Council is seeking views on:

  • The draft Development Strategy, which sets out the early direction of the new plan.

  • Potential sites for housing, employment, and other uses—over 400 have been put forward to date.

  • Key issues such as infrastructure, environmental impacts, and how best to accommodate Bromsgrove’s future growth.

At this stage, the Council stresses that this is a fact-finding process. No final decisions have been made. The purpose is to gather evidence and local knowledge to ensure the eventual Local Plan is well-informed and robust.

Why your views matter

Cllr Kit Taylor, Portfolio Holder for Planning, said:

With more than 400 sites proposed, it is vital we get this strategy right. We’ve already had a fantastic response, but extending the consultation allows even more people to share their knowledge of sites, infrastructure and local needs.”

The Local Plan will guide decisions on where new housing, employment land, community facilities, and green spaces are provided. As Bromsgrove faces continued development pressure—including from Birmingham’s housing shortfall—the plan will be a key tool in managing growth while protecting the district’s character.

How to take part

You can review the consultation documents and submit your comments in three ways:
