Approval for Expansion of Highway Management Depot


Behind these two buildings, masked from view, is a thriving highway management depot. The depot is located within a designated Core Employment Area with local planning policy aimed at retaining job opportunities.

We applied to demolish a retail unit and offices on the site to enable the expansion of the depot. Because of the designation of the area, the proposal could well have been resisted by Birmingham City Council.

However, the Council were convinced by the arguments we put forward on behalf of our Client, including how the depot would support an existing business and retain jobs, concluding that the expansion of the business was acceptable in principle.

Planning permission was granted in January 2020.
