South Worcestershire Development Plan consults on Supplementary Planning Documents

he three South Worcestershire Councils of Malvern Hills District, Worcester City and Wychavon District are currently seeking views on three supplementary planning documents from 2nd February until 16th March 2018. The documents are designed to explain planning policies in the adopted South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) in more detail.

Draft Renewable and Low Carbon Energy SPD: This SPD relates to policy SWDP 27 of the South Worcestershire Development Plan, which seeks to promote the use of renewable and / or low carbon energy sources in development. The policy also requires large scale development to examine the potential for decentralised energy and heating networks, and also sets out the policy approach for stand-a-lone renewable and low carbon energy schemes (with the exception of wind turbines).

Draft Water Management and Flooding SPD: The draft document relates to policies in the adopted South Worcestershire Development Plan that seek to minimise the impacts of flood risk and direct development to the areas of lowest flood risk, promote effective water management and maintain water quality. These are policies SWDP 28 Management of Flood Risk; SWDP 29 Sustainable Drainage Systems and SWDP 30 Water Resources, Efficiency and Treatment.

Revised Developer Contributions SPD: This revised SPD relates to further advice required in the light of new infrastructure evidence, e.g. the development of the Local Transport Plan 4, and a number of other amendments for example to take account of the adoption of a Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL), which came into effect in June 2017 for Malvern Hills and Wychavon councils and September 2017 for Worcester City Council.
