Birmingham City Council have submitted their Development Management in Birmingham Document (DMB) and supporting documents for examination.

The DMB covers a whole range of policies, including standards for residential development, Houses in Multiple Occupation, residential conversions and specialist accommodation, custom build housing, and air quality.

An independent Planning Inspector will conduct the examination assessing it for soundness and legal compliance. If it is found sound and legally compliant it can be adopted and policies in the DMB would then be used to assess planning applications and make development decisions. Once adopted, the DMB will replace the ‘saved’ policies in the Birmingham Unitary Development Plan.
