Tyler Parkes Secures Permission for London Aparthotel
The Tyler Parkes team is delighted to have successfully obtained planning permission for a new Aparthotel in Whitechapel. The site is on the A11 Whitechapel Road, part of the capital’s core highway network and is located in a vibrant mixed-use area within the City fringe and en-route to the Olympic Park. The successful scheme was designed by architects WebbGray.
The approved scheme is for a mixed use development comprising the erection of a 6 to 9 storey building adjacent to, but detached from, an existing hotel. Aparthotels are self-contained hotel accommodation that provide for short-term occupancy purchased at a nightly rate. They include a reception, a concierge, room service and restaurant. The Aparthotel will occupy the upper floors of the building with an access lobby and a commercial unit/ restaurant at ground floor. In terms of the Aparthotel units to be created, these will all be 1 bedroom units of various sizes, totalling 131. The application was supported by a number of specialist reports, including Ecological Reports, a Daylight and Sunlight Report, a Drainage Strategy, Public Realm Proposals and a Transport Statement. These were undertaken in addition to the reports prepared by Tyler Parkes that included the Planning Support Statement, Statement of Community Involvement, Sustainability Statement and Secured by Design Statement. During the application process we stayed in close contact with the Planning Officers at the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, who approved the application on 15 July 2016.
