Major Tyler Parkes Housing Scheme Approved in Yardley

Tyler Parkes has successfully obtained the approval of Birmingham Planning Committee for the residential development of a former school site on Hob Moor Road, Yardley, Birmingham with 36 dwellings.

The Tyler Parkes architectural and planning teams worked tirelessly with the Council’s planners and city design team to reach a design solution that satisfied all parties. Various designs were explored during pre-application discussions, to reach a solution that met the client’s specification and that would be supported by the Council’s planners.

The proposals involve the erection of 36 dwellings comprising a mixture of 1, 2, 3 and 4 bedroom properties. The approved layout forms a mixture of 2 and 3 storey dwellings arranged such that the buildings back onto the site boundary – forming an inverted perimeter block, in turn, creating a central courtyard. As well as preparing all architectural plans for the residential development, Tyler Parkes managed the application process, preparing supporting reports as well as appointing and managing external consultants to ensure all matters for consideration were addressed as part of the planning submission.

Due to the comprehensive pre-application discussions, the planning application process was relatively smooth with the application reported to Planning Committee with a recommendation to approve, which was endorsed by Committee members.
