Knowle Town Centre Regeneration

Master Planning Services

Client: Private Landowners' Collective

Location: Knowle, Solihull, West Midlands

Sector: Residential / commercial

Size: 1.2 Ha

Status: Awaiting Conservation Assessment

The site hosts a collection of incongruous low-quality 1950s buildings. Despite being next to Knowle's high street and buildings from the 14th and 15th centuries, our clients' site is underused and unattractive. The Council has acknowledged the site needs improvement.

We prepared a concept to improve the site and tie it in with the surrounding spaces. The design repairs the current 'back-to-front' layout with perimeter blocks of housing. A new tree-lined route from the high street to an existing park, and a plaza are intended to draw people through the safe and attractive development.

The proposals are awaiting Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council conservation feedback.
