Tyler Parkes is pleased to have helped secure a positive outcome on application Ladbroke Road, Bishop’s Itchington, where Stratford-on-Avon District Council resolved to grant planning permission for six detached dwellings and associated works, subject to the completion of a Section 106 agreement. Tyler Parkes acted as planning agent for the scheme and the architects were Robothams.
The application was considered by Planning Committee following local objection, including from the Parish Council and Ward Member, so this was not a routine approval. Officer recommendation was nevertheless to grant permission, reflecting the overall strength of the planning case and the work undertaken to address the main technical and policy issues.
A key point in the decision was that the site lies within the Built-Up Area Boundary of Bishop’s Itchington. That meant the principle of housing on the site was considered acceptable, with the detailed assessment focusing on matters such as design, access, highways, drainage, biodiversity and affordable housing contributions.
The officer report also recognised the wider context of housing delivery, noting the importance of additional homes in sustainable village locations at a time when housing land supply remains under pressure. Against that background, and with technical matters resolved through the application process, the proposal was judged acceptable.
This outcome shows the value of a clear planning strategy, careful management of technical issues and a well-presented case at committee stage. It is another example of Tyler Parkes helping clients move sites forward where policy, design and local sensitivities all need to be handled with care.
