Approved: New Home on Underused Nursery Land

Seb Kouyoumjian

We have secured full planning consent for a new three-bedroom detached house on a previously redundant site in Northfield, Birmingham.

Located at the rear of an existing nursery, the site was surplus to requirements. Despite its eccentric shape, we designed a fully policy-compliant two-storey house with parking, amenity space, and a gross internal floor area of 88m².

Careful layout and window positioning ensured compliance with Birmingham City Council’s design guidance on privacy for neighbouring properties. Additionally, by reusing an existing access, we avoided the need for a costly highways design and traffic speed survey.

As both architectural and planning consultants on this project, we are delighted to have secured consent for what was previously under-used land. This approval will provide a much-needed family home in a sustainable, well-established location, while 're-activating' this part of the street frontage.
