Policy Updates: Solihull Borough

PROGRESS ON SOLIHULL LOCAL PLAN REVIEW

A summary of the representations received in response to the Draft Local Plan Supplementary Consultation, undertaken between January and March 2019, was reported to the Cabinet Members on 18 July 2019. Unfortunately, this summary does not include a response from the Council to the representation comments. The representations will be taken into account when the next version of the Draft Local Plan is produced.

The next version of the Local Plan Review will be the ‘final’ submission version of the plan which will be published for a minimum six weeks consultation period. Unfortunately, the Council have not, as yet, agreed a revised timetable for publication of the submission version, though it will no longer be this summer. The submission version will be submitted, together with any representations received in response to the forthcoming consultation, for independent examination.

SOLIHULL CONSULT ON THEIR DRAFT STATEMENT OF COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT AND DRAFT LOCAL VALIDATION CRITERIA

Solihull is currently consulting on a Draft Statement of Community Involvement and a Draft Local Validation Criteria. Both these documents aim to ensure the Council follows the ‘correct and best processes and procedures when determining planning applications, creating planning policies and planning for future development within Solihull’. The closing date for representation to be received by the Council on either of these documents is Friday 27 September 2019.

BERKSWELL NEIGHBOURHOOD DEVELOPMENT PLAN

A referendum on the Berkswell Parish Neighbourhood Development Plan (NDP) took place on 18 July 2019 when nearly 95% voted in favour of the plan. Berkswell NDP was therefore ‘made’ (adopted) and is now part of the development plan and will be used to help determine planning applications within the Berkswell Parish area. This is the third NDP which has been ‘made’ and incorporated into the development plan, following on from Hampton in Arden NDP and Knowle, Dorridge and Bentley Heath NDP.

If you have interests in any of these areas, please contact our Planning Team for more information.
