Tyler Parkes is delighted to have obtained planning permission for 88 new homes, all ‘affordable’, on behalf of our clients, the Orbit Group, one of the UK’s leading housing providers.

The site, a demolished former school, previously had outline planning permission for the clearance and redevelopment to provide 95 dwellings with only some affordable homes. However, this permission expired in 2016, necessitating a new, detailed planning application accompanied by new plans for the specific development, together with updated surveys and reports.

A positive pre-application meeting was held with the planners in November 2017, and the application was submitted the following month. Despite the fact that the principle of the redevelopment of this brownfield site for residential use had already been established, the Council raised a number of technical issues requiring additional work which we managed and resolved during the progress of the application.

The application was considered by the Council’s Planning Committee on 10th July. TPP Director Gareth Jones addressed the Committee and it was resolved to approve the application upon completion of a legal agreement. Planning permission was granted on 25th July 2018.
