Reforming Developer Contributions Proposals

Helen Winkler

The Government are currently consulting on a document which considers reforms to the following: Community Infrastructure Levy; Section 106 Planning Obligations; Strategic Infrastructure Tariff; as well as Technical Clarifications to Regulations.

The consultation states that currently the system of developer contributions is not as fast, simple, certain or transparent as originally intended. The reforms seek to put in place changes to provide greater certainty for developers in the short term. In the longer term, the Government also intends to continue to explore options for going further, including the option for contributions to affordable housing and infrastructure to be set nationally, and to be non-negotiable.

The closing date for representations to be received is 10 May 2018
