Permission and Listed Building Consent in Henley-in-Arden

We are delighted to have obtained planning permission and listed building consent for the conversion and extension of a Grade II listed building located on the High Street within the Henley-in-Arden Conservation Area.

The property, located within the town centre of Henley-in-Arden and in walking distance to a number of shops and amenities, is currently vacant but has most recently been used as a hair salon including some offices on the first floor. The premises were under renovation to form a tailor’s shop when the previous owner passed away.

The application proposes the conversion of the building to a hair and beauty salon including the demolition of the conservatory to the rear, to be replaced with a new high quality extension and some internal alterations. It is also proposed to replace the front of the property to better suit the applicant’s requirements.

The officers agreed that the proposal would enhance the streetscene and bring a currently vacant building back into use. The scheme is compliant with relevant national planning policies and the adopted Stratford-on-Avon Core Strategy. It was supported by the Parish Council.

We stayed in close contact with the planning officer during the application process, and the concerns with the amenity of neighbouring residents and the impact of the proposed shop front on the Conservation Area were addressed. We prepared detailed shading plans to support our case and reconsidered the design to the front. Subsequently the application was approved.
