Permission granted for extensions to luxury hotel in Cotswolds AONB
We are pleased to have obtained planning permission on behalf of our client Farncombe Estate for extensions to form additional bedroom rooms and an extension to the spa area at the existing Dormy House Hotel. The hotel is located on Willersey Hill, close to the attractive village of Broadway within the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).
The site is located immediately adjacent and partly within an area that is covered by a Scheduled Ancient Monument, known as ‘Willersey Hill Camp’. We submitted a separate application for Scheduled Ancient Monument consent to Historic England which was approved subject to an archaeological watching brief.
The detailed scheme proposes the demolition of the free-standing existing garden-wing and the provision of a new two-storey extension to the north of the existing hotel to create additional guest accommodation. The single-storey spa extension would be located immediately to the north of the existing spa treatment rooms, linked via a ground-floor walkway. It would provide additional space for relaxation, including an indoor saltwater hot tub. The area would also accommodate a small office and a spa terrace.
Farncombe Estate makes a considerable contribution to the local economy and is of high importance to the tourism economy in this part of the Cotswolds. Further guest accommodation will deliver additional economic benefits to the local economy and the planning officer agreed that the scheme was fully acceptable and granted planning permission accordingly
