Approval of New Wedding Facility at Listed Hotel

TP Editorial Team

We have been successful in obtaining planning permission for a wedding gazebo within the grounds of the Grade II listed Audleys Wood Hotel in Winslade, Basingstoke on behalf of our client Hand Picked Hotels Ltd.

The hotel is a Victorian Country House built in 1880, containing 72 bedrooms and is surrounded by 2.8 hectares of lawn and woodland. The proposal is for a new gazebo, which would be located adjacent to a marquee for which we obtained planning permission two years ago. The gazebo would be a wooden structure with a tiled roof and be used for wedding ceremonies and other similar events.

The proposal will significantly improve and strengthen the Hotel as an attractive wedding location and is a perfect addition to its continued success and hence the upkeep and maintenance of the listed building.

Our submission required the preparation of a Heritage Statement and important consideration had also to be given to the location because of the surrounding trees. Our application followed on from a successful pre-application submission and the planning officer recommended the planning application for approval.
