Success for Motel in the Green Belt

We are delighted to report that we have successfully obtained planning permission in the Green Belt for the demolition of an existing garden centre and bungalow and the erection of a motel on the site of Bracey’s Nurseries and Garden Centre, near Catherine de Barnes.

The garden centre is a family owned business and was established more than 50 years ago, however during and since the economic downturn trading conditions have been tough and the existing buildings on the site require significant refurbishment. There is now growing interest in the redevelopment of the site which required the renewal of the previous permission we obtained in 2012. We designed the scheme to retain the garden centre’s existing tearoom and restaurant as these are relatively new buildings on the site.

During the processing of the application, we stayed in close contact with the local planning authority and provided updated supporting statements as well as arranging an up-to-date bat survey for the existing buildings on site. There were no objections received to the application and it was duly approved under delegated powers.
