Selly Oak Enforcement Appeal Success

The Tyler Parkes Partnership is extremely pleased to report that a Government Planning Inspector has quashed an Enforcement Notice issued by Birmingham City Council against our Client and granted planning permission for ground floor and first floor extensions erected at a terraced property within Selly Oak. By way of background, the Council had served an Enforcement Notice on our Client requiring the complete demolition of ground floor rear and side extensions along with a first floor rear extension on the grounds that they had an adverse impact upon the outlook of, and resulted in a loss of light to, neighbouring dwellings; and, that the scale and appearance of the extensions were out of co

Double Dealership Delight for Listers!

Tyler Parkes has just obtained planning permission for two prestigious car dealerships, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche on the outskirts of Hull. For some time lead consultant Gareth Jones has been assisting client The Listers Group Ltd. in their search to find a suitable new site to which to re-locate their Mercedes-Benz dealership from existing premises in Hessle, to the west of the City. At the same time Listers have also been looking for a new site to accommodate a Porsche dealership. Porsche had a dealership in Hull until the 2008 recession and there was a strong desire to re-establish Porsche in the area. In partnership with the Wykeland Group Ltd., a leading Hull based property development

Further Permission at Green Belt Hydro Electric Plant

Tyler Parkes are pleased to have obtained planning permission for a permanent waterproof access and storage building to serve the existing hydro-electric plant near the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont, Nottinghamshire. The permission, on behalf of Holme Hydro Ltd, provides for a new building to replace an existing temporary protective structure over the hydro power station access hatch. The site lies in the Nottinghamshire Green Belt. We previously obtained planning permission for the hydro-electric power plant in 2013. The scheme utilises the hydroelectric potential of the River Trent at the drop across an old filled-in lock, the Holme Old Lock. The plant has been designed

Permission for new Green Belt dwellings in Barston

Tyler-Parkes recently assisted a local housebuilder client with a difficult case for new build houses and the conversion of locally listed buildings to form four dwellings and extensions to a further house in Barston, Solihull within the Green Belt. We compiled ‘Very Special Circumstances’ arguments for the proposals, which were accepted by Solihull Council. This enabled planning permission to be granted for two new dwellings, extension and alterations of an existing dwelling and extension/conversion of existing locally listed buildings to form two new dwellings.

Green Belt Medical Centre supported by Solihull Council

Tyler Parkes is delighted to have helped secure the support of Solihull Council for the erection of a new 2,800 sq.m. state of the art Medical Centre located within the Green Belt to the east of Marston Green, on behalf of Marston Medical Ltd. This is an exciting £8M project, which will deliver a brand new highly sustainable, BREEAM rated “Excellent”, future-proofed Medical Centre offering a wide range of medical services and facilities. This will include MRI and scanning, as well as facilities to undertake minor operations, in-line with the Government’s drive to ease pressure and demand upon the major hospitals. This will be of significant benefit to existing and future patients of the exi

Birmingham consults on Development Management DPD

Birmingham City Council has begun an 8-week public consultation on the Development Management in Birmingham document (DMB). The DMB will provide detailed policies to help determine planning applications and development decisions across the whole City complementing the Birmingham Development Plan, which was adopted in 2017. The document contains 15 detailed draft policies to guide and support new development covering a wide range of planning and development issues which will replace the remaining saved 2005 Birmingham Unitary Development Plan policies which have now become outdated. The Council is inviting comments as part of a formal public consultation which will be taken into account and

Empty Listed Building Revived as Hair Studio

Tyler Parkes has recently completed the renovation and extension of a Listed Building on High Street, Henley-in-Arden, Warwickshire. When our hair and beauty salon client, Aesthetics, bought the building, it was too small and in poor condition. Added to that, being a Grade II Listed Building dating from the 19th century, any proposed changes to it would be closely scrutinized by the local council and their conservation team. Knowing the building had been subjected to a series of low-quality extensions, we approached the council with a proposal which would replace them with one much larger, high-quality extension. Working closely with Aesthetics, we came up with a design which suited their bu
