Proposals approved at successful Shropshire Hotel and Spa

Lion Quays Hotel and Spa is an independently-owned 4-star resort located on the banks of the Llangollen Canal, at Weston Rhyn, near Oswestry, Shropshire.

The Resort welcomes thousands of people each year to the hotel, restaurants, conference facilities, events, and to the extensive spa and leisure facilities.

The scheme, submitted by Tyler Parkes, with plans prepared by Trevillion Interiors, sought planning permission for proposed changes to the entrance area to the leisure centre as well as the provision of a new café facility with a new outdoor seating area.

We argued that adopted planning policies support the expansion and improvement of rural businesses. The proposed new café requires the employment of 5 full-time staff members, additional to the existing 138 employees on the site. It is proposed to serve as an alternative facility to the main Waterside restaurant which is located to the north within the site.

Shropshire Council granted permission for the scheme on 22 January 2019.
