Local Authorities (Contracting Out of Community Infrastructure Levy Functions) Order 2011
This Order permits the (voluntary) contracting out of certain functions of a charging or collecting authority in relation to the setting, charging, collection, enforcement and spending of the Community Infrastructure Levy.
Local authorities are enabled to make a mandatory charge on new development and to use the funds received to provide infrastructure to support the development of their area.
The Order states that contracting out these functions will enable a competitive bidding process between suppliers, saving costs to the public purse and driving up standards, i.e. delivering best value.
